Tyres filled with nitrogen
Tyres filled with nitrogen
Nitrogen is an inert gas which does not contain moisture which reduces oxidation on the inside of the tyre and rim. Its chemical composition contributes to maintaining the tyre components. It keeps them in good condition thereby increasing the service life.
The operating temperature of the tyre is kept low minimising the risk of a blowout.
The tyre pressure loss is lower than on tyres filled with air; the tyre maintains the correct inflation pressure over a longer period. It is not necessary to check the tyre pressure as frequently, although here as well regular checks and use of nitrogen are recommended. If nitrogen is not available, normal air can also be used, even though the advantages of filling with nitrogen are then lost.
  Note
Pumping up the tyre with air and regularly checking the inflation pressure has the same effect as inflating with nitrogen.
