Multiple clutch: axial play adjustment
  Note
Do not lift or extract the multiple bracket, in order to avoid disc misalignment.
l  Place the clutch vertically on the assembly frame, to allow us to alter the shaft of the multiple clutch.
l  The large multiple clutch bracket is inserted into all discs, it must not come out of the lower disk.
l  The oil pump shaft is removed.
   
–  First fit Securing pin -T10303- on the lock plate seat.

–  Now fit the multiple clutch, without letting it fall inside.
–  A second mechanic should hold the attachment tool -T10303-during this operation.
  Note
First fit a 2 mm thick securing ring, in order to calculate the corresponding ring to be permanently fitted.

–  Do not remove the attachment tool -T10303- from the clutch housing, until the final securing ring has been calculated.
–  First fit the securing ring of 2 mm -arrow-, in order to make the initial measurements to determine the final securing ring measurement. → Item.
First measurement -a-
The attachment tool -T10303- is fitted in the clutch housing.
–  Tighten the Support -T20020- to the gearbox flange.

–  Fit the gauge tracer to the gearbox input shaft.
–  Adjust the gauge to zero applying an initial pressure.
–  Lift the clutch assembly to the upper limit and note the measurement. -a-

Do not remove the attachment pin -T10303-.
The gauge tracer must not rest on the circlip.
–  Apply the gauge tracer against the large multi-disc bracket hub.
–  Readjust the gauge, applying initial pressure and adjust to 0,
–  Once again lift the clutch to the upper limit then note the second measurement -b-.
Now, the remaining nine rings to be permanently fitted are calculated:
–  For this use the formula “B - A + 1.85 ”.

Example
Primary measurement: on the Input shaftA = 0.40
Second measurement: on the bracket hub B = 0.85
Constant =1.850,85 - 0,40 +1,85 = 2,30

–  The thickness of the circlip to be fitted = the second measurement minus the first measurement plus 1.85 mm
0,85 - 0,40 +1,85 = 2,30
–  Please note this result -2.30-.
–  Measure all of the rings and find the ring closest to the result obtained -2.30-“The securing rings differ in steps of 0.1 mm”.
–  Remove the 2 mm circlip, replacing it by the ring calculated by the formula.
l  Circlips should only be fitted once.
l  The corresponding circlip would be 2.30 mm.
   
–  Fit the oil pump shaft.

–  Fit the clutch end cover aligning the marks made for fitting.
–  Fit the new securing ring → Item on the clutch.
–  Remove the attachment tool -T10303-.
–  Fit the clutch lock plate → Chapter.
After fitting the gearbox
–  Carry out the basic calibration of the Mecatronic system of the DSG automatic gearbox -J743-.
