Selector lever cable: removing and installing
Selector lever cable: removing and installing
Selector lever cable: removing → Anchor.
Selector lever cable: fitting → Anchor.
Selector lever cable: removing
–  Put the gear selector lever into position “S”.
–  Switch off ignition.
–  Remove engine cover → Booklet2.
–  Remove the air filter housing, the air hose and the conduit → Rep. Gr.24 and → Rep. Gr.23.
–  Put the gear selector lever into position “P”.
   
–  Remove plate safety clip -C-.
–  Press the safety washer -A- upwards and remove by turning clockwise.
–  Disengage the selector lever cable from the selector rod shaft, following the direction indicated by the arrow and place above.
–  Do not loosen the bolt -B-.
–  Do not bend the selector lever cable.
–  Raise the vehicle.

–  Remove central soundproofing, bolts -1 ... 3-.
–  Dismount primary exhaust pipes with the catalyser and primary silencer → Rep. Gr.26.

–  Take off clips -arrows- and remove heat shield.

–  Unbolt the lower cover of the gear selection mechanism -arrows-.
–  Move the cover and the protective sheath forwards, passing them over the selector lever cable. Be careful not to damage the protective sheath in the process.

–  Unscrew bolts -arrows-.
  WARNING
The printed circuit board -B- of the gear selection mechanism should not in any case be touched with fingers, as the electrical components of the circuit may be damaged beyond repair due to static discharge.
The printed circuit board may only be replaced with the gear selection mechanism.
–  Remove the insertion plate -A- from the gear selection mechanism.
  Note
The insertion plate is held in place on the left and right with clips.

–  Pull retaining clip downwards -1- from selector lever cable in the gear selection mechanism.
–  Pull the plastic safety spring -2- slightly forwards and press the bolt -3- upwards only if necessary -arrow-.
  Note
t  This operation may only be carried out when the selector lever is in position “S”.
t  Make sure the bolt does not come out completely.
–  Remove the selector lever cable -4- from the gear selection mechanism.
  Note
Do not bend or kink the selector lever cable.
Selector lever cable: fitting
Install in reverse order. The following must be taken into account:
  Note
t  Ensure that the protective sheath of the gear selection lever is not damaged, this may only be changed along with the cable itself.
t  Ensure that the protection sheath is correctly attached and fit it without twisting.

–  Insert the selector lever cable together with the protective sheath into the cover . Be careful not to damage the protective sheath in the process.

–  Insert the end of the selector lever cable -4- in the selector lever joint.
–  Press the bolt -3- downwards -arrow-.
–  Check whether the plastic safety spring -2- has engaged the bolt.
–  Position a new safety fastener -1- for the selector lever cable in the gear selection mechanism.
Installation position:
The bent end of the retaining clip faces inwards towards the gear selection mechanism.

–  Fit the insertion plate -A-.
  Note
The insertion plate is held in place on the left and right with clips.
–  Mount bolts-arrows-.
  WARNING
The printed circuit board -B- of the gear selection mechanism should not in any case be touched with fingers, as the electrical components of the circuit may be damaged beyond repair due to static discharge.
The printed circuit board may only be replaced with the gear selection mechanism.

–  Screw down the cover, with the gasket stuck on, to the support bracket -arrows- by hand. While doing this, ensure the gasket stays in place correctly.
–  Fit the protective sheath of the selector lever cable on the cover.

–  Carefully insert the selector lever cable into the selector rod shaft, -in the opposite direction to that shown by the arrow-.
–  Fit the safety washer -A- and lock downwards.
–  Remove plate safety clip -C-.
–  Change the gear selector lever from position “S” to “P”.
l  The gear actioning mechanism and the selector lever cable should move freely; if necessary, replace the selector lever cable or repair the gearbox actioning mechanism.
–  Put the gear selector lever into position “P”.

–  Bolt the lower cover of the gear selection mechanism -arrows-.
  A37-0457
–  Assemble the heat shield -arrows-.
–  Align exhaust system free of stress → Rep. Gr.26.
–  Adjusting the selector lever cable → Chapter.
–  Check the gear selection mechanism: → Chapter.
