Antenna preparation with the function “Scan diversity”
Antenna preparation with the function “Scan diversity”
The„Radio“-have an antenna with the preparation "scan diversity". This is designed to enhance and optimise reception quality.
Beside the rear window aerial with amplifier, additional antennas with an amplifier are used, located on the rear window or on the lateral window.
Each antenna with amplifier is connected through the aerial selection control unit -J515-.
The signal from aerial selection control unit -J515- is received by the radio -R/N- via the aerial wire HF (high frequency) and is checked and the result of the check is sent out again by an additional aerial connection ZF (intermediate frequency) to aerial selection control unit -J515-.
If the signal is too weak, the aerial selection control unit -J515- switches to a different aerial (diversity function).
There are no visible or audible signs of this switching process.
For existing „Scan diversity “ the Radio-/Navigation system -R/N-two internal receivers, each with one input is available AM/FM1, FM2.
If the incoming signal is affected by interference, the two signals are digitalised in the radio unit -R/N- after passing through the tuners, and then separated in such a way that the interference is largely eliminated.
If there is no interference in the incoming signal, the radio unit -R/N- will continuously compare the signals from the two aerials (amplifiers) to determine which is the stronger signal. This is then passed on accordingly.
In this case, the second tuner will scan through the frequency band in the background to locate better reception frequencies for the current station. If a better signal is found, this tuner will then be used for reception and the other tuner is faded into the background.
