| The idling speed is set to nominal value by the throttle valve positioner together with the DLS function. |

| The CO content is set to nominal value by the lambda control. Faults in the lambda control are detected by the self-diagnostic system and stored in the fault memory. |

| Vehicle system tester -V.A.G 1552 - with cable -V.A.G 1551/3, 3A, 3B, 3C- |

| The exhaust system between the cylinder head and the catalyst must be tight. |
l
| Coolant temperature at least 80°C → Chapter display group 004, display block 3. |
l
| All electrical consumers, e.g. lights and rear window heater, must be switched off. |
l
| If vehicle is equipped with air conditioning, this must also be switched off. |
l
| On vehicles with an automatic gearbox the selector lever must be in position “P” or “N”. |

| Connect vehicle system tester -V.A.G 1552-. Start engine and select address word 01 “Engine electronics” → Chapter. |

| Interrogate fault memory, rectify any faults and then erase the fault memory → Chapter. |

| Select function 08 “Read measured value block” and display group 056. |
