Separating new conrod
Separating new conrod
It can happen that on new conrods, the provided separation point is not completely cracked. If the conrod bearing cap cannot be removed by hand, then proceed as follows:
–  Mark the assignment of the conrod to the cylinder.
   
–  Slightly tension the conrod, as shown in the illustration, in a vice provided with aluminium protective jaws.
  Note
t  Only tension the conrod slightly in order to avoid damage on the conrod.
t  The conrod is clamped beyond the broken line.
–  Unscrew both screws -arrows- by approx. 5 turns.

–  Carefully knock against the conrod bearing cap with a rubber hammer in -direction of arrow- in order to loosen it.
