Before repairing the gearbox first perform self-diagnosis → Chapter .
1 - 3rd and 4th gear-clutch -K3-
2 - Reverse gear-brake -B1-
3 - Free wheel
4 - Reverse gear-clutch -K2-
5 - 1st through 3rd gear clutch -K1-
6 - 2nd and 4th gear-brake -B2-
7 - Lockup clutch integrated in torque converter -LC-

Position of gearshift elements
In the event of complaints about unsatisfactory acceleration and speed values or more generally for drive faults, refer to the following table to determine which shift elements are activated in the individual gears. This will help determine which shift elements do not work correctly.
All gears are hydraulically shifted.
The 3rd and 4th forward gears are mechanically driven by the torque converter lockup clutch at a specified load and speed.

X - closed clutches, brakes or overrunning clutch
(X) - -B1- is only used as an engine brake in selector lever position “1”.
