Check fuel tank ventilation
Check fuel tank ventilation
Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Hand vacuum pump, e.g. -VAS 6213-
Test condition
l  The ignition must be switched off.
–  Remove the ventilation line -1- from the activated charcoal filter on the activated charcoal filter system solenoid valve 1 -N80--2-.
   
–  Connect hand vacuum pump -VAS 6213- to vent line -1- as shown.
–  Operate the hand vacuum pump several times:
l  No vacuum should build up.
If a vacuum builds up.
–  Check the ventilation opening -3- on the activated charcoal filter -4- for dirt and clean as required.
If no vacuum builds up:
–  Shut off ventilation opening -3- on the activated charcoal filter and once again operate the hand vacuum pump several times:
l  A vacuum should build up.
If no vacuum builds up:
–  Replace activated charcoal filter.
