Removing and installing intake manifold
Removing and installing intake manifold
Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Socket insert T30 with spherical head -T10405-
Removing
  Note
t  Observe safety measures when working on the fuel system → Chapter.
t  Observe rules for cleanliness → Chapter.
–  Remove engine cover → Chapter.
  Caution
Make sure that no cable connection is damaged when disconnecting the plugs.
Otherwise, the complete wiring loom must be replaced.
   
–  Release screws -arrows- of fuel return-flow line.
  N23-10368
–  Carefully unlock the fuel return-flow line -arrow- at the high pressure pump.
–  Carefully remove the fuel return-flow line from the high pressure pump.

–  Open the catches -arrows- of the cable guide and expose the wiring loom.
–  Disconnect the plugs at the glow plugs → Chapter.

–  Release screw -arrow- and lay the changeover valve for radiator of exhaust gas recirculation -N345- to the side.

–  Disconnect plugs -6,7,9,11-.
6 - Intake manifold flap motor -V157-
7 - Charge pressure sender -G31-
9 - Throttle valve control unit -J338-
11 - Fuel dosage valve -N290-
  N23-10359
–  Release screws of coolant return-flow line -arrows- and lay the return line to the side.
–  Remove fuel distributor → Chapter.
  N23-10365
–  Slacken clamps -1- and -3-.
–  Release the fixing screws of the intake manifold ( → Chapter, Pos. 13) crosswise from the outside inwards.
–  Carefully remove intake manifold.
Install
Installation is performed in the reverse order, pay attention to the following points:
–  Replace gasket.
–  Before installing, insert the fixing screws in the holes of the intake manifold.
–  Tighten screws from inside to outside and crosswise to 8 Nm.
