t  Test box -V.A.G 1598/22-
t  Hand multimeter -V.A.G 1526 A- or multimeter -V.A.G 1715-
t  Measuring cables -V.A.G 1594 A -
t  Current flow diagram
Test condition
l  Fault on hall sender detected by self-diagnosis
Test sequence
–  Disconnect the plug at the Hall sender (ignition distributor).
   
–  Connect the multimeter for voltage measurement with measuring cables -V.A.G 1594 - to the outer contacts of the plug.
–  Switch on ignition.
   Specified value: min. 9 V
–  Switch off ignition.

–  Connect test box -V.A.G 1598/22 - to the connector of the control unit.
–  Check wiring between the test box and the plug for open circuit according to the current flow diagram.
   Contact 1 + bush 67
   Contact 2 + bush 63
   Contact 3 + bush 56
   Cable resistance: max. 1.5°Ω
–  Also test the wires in the plug for short circuit to each other.
   Specified value: ∞°Ω
If no fault was detected in the wiring and if there was no voltage between contact 1 + 3:
–  Replace hall sender → Anchor, pos. 6
If no fault was detected in the wiring and if there was no voltage between contact 1 + 3:
–  Replace 1AV control unit - J382- → Chapter.
