Test step 4
What is tested is the function of the data BUS lines.
–  Switch on measuring range 2 kΩ.
   
–  Measure between the contact 7 and the contact 8 when the plug is disconnected.
Specified value: 50…70 Ω
If the specified value is not reached:
–  Test data BUS lines according to the current flow diagram for open circuit or short-circuit and/or proper routing. To do so, disconnect the multi-pin connectors of all control units connected to the data BUS.
–  Switch on measuring range 20 MΩ.
–  Carry out the following resistance measurements on the disconnected plug of the four-wheel drive control unit -J492-:
  N01-0321
Between contact:Specified value
7 + 8∞ Ω
7 + 1∞ Ω
8 + 1∞ Ω
7 + 2∞ Ω
8 + 2∞ Ω

–  In addition, test the data BUS lines for open circuit. Cable resistance: max. 1.5 Ω.
If the specified values are not reached:
–  Repair wiring according to current flow diagram → Current flow diagrams and Fitting locations.
If the specified values are reached:
–  Re-connect the multi-pin connector of all the control unit and read the fault memory of all the control units connected to the data BUS and if necessary eliminate fault.
