Test step 5
What is tested is the function of the pump for Haldex coupling -V181- and the function of the oil pressure control motor -V184-.
  Note
The vehicle must be raised so that the wheels are clear of the ground (2nd mechanic is required).

–  Connect the plug for the four-wheel drive control unit -J492-.
–  Connect the vehicle diagnosis, measurement and information system -VAS 5051- → Chapter.
–  Apply handbrake.
–  Start the vehicle.
–  Press the clutch pedal and engage the 1st gear.
–  Drive off slowly, therefore a start-up procedure of the rear wheels against the handbrake must be noticeable.
  Note
Carefully actuate the clutch pedal, otherwise this can cause the engine not to run.
If there is no start-up procedure of the rear wheels against the handbrake noticeable:
t  Check the plug connection (2-pin) on the pump for Haldex coupling -V181- and the wiring according to the current flow diagram → Current flow diagrams and Fitting locations.
t  If no fault is found, then the oil pressure control motor -V184- is defective.
  Note
The oil pressure control motor -V184- is integrated in the four-wheel drive control unit -J492 -.
If there is a start-up procedure of the rear wheels against the handbrake noticeable:
–  Actuate the clutch pedal and select the vehicle system “03 - Electric brake” in the vehicle diagnosis, measurement and information system -VAS 5051-.
  N01-0320
–  The control unit identification is shown in the display -2- of the vehicle diagnosis, measurement and information system -VAS 5051-.
–  After being notified by the control unit, drive off again in the 1st gear when the hand-brake is applied.
Only the front wheels must turn.
If a start-procedure of the rear wheels against the handbrake is still noticeable, then the four-wheel drive control unit -J492- is defective.
–  Replace four-wheel drive control unit -J492 - → Chapter.
