Removing and installing the pre-exhaust pipe - engines with identification characters AEH, AKL

Removing

Note

t	Avoid a large deflection of decoupling element, max. deflection 10 °.

t	Always replace self-locking nuts.

–	Unbolt protective cover -arrows-, separate plug connection for lambda probe.

–	Unscrew front heat shield.

–	Detach clamping sleeve.

–	Unscrew pre-exhaust pipe from exhaust manifold.

–	Swivel pre-exhaust pipe down 180° and take off.

Install

Tightening order of pre-exhaust pipe to exhaust manifold:

Components	Nm
Pre-exhaust pipe to exhaust manifold	40¹⁾
Lambda probe	50¹⁾
Nuts for clamping sleeve	40
Shielding for drive shaft to cylinder block	35

¹⁾ Coat with hot bolt paste -G 052 112 A3-.

–	Align exhaust system free of stress → Chapter.

–	Interrogate the fault memory → Vehicle diagnostic tester.
