Removing and installing ignition coils with power output stages
Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Assembly device -T10118-
t  Extractor -T10094 A-
When installing new spark plugs:
t  Lubricating paste -G 052 141 A2-
  Note
The housings of the ignition coils with power output stage were changed. This enables the ignition coils to be removed and installed only with the extractor -T10094 A-. The previous extractor -T10094- can furthermore be used if it is machined as described below.

–  Remove the marked area -2- using suitable workshop tools in order to achieve the new nominal dimension -B- of 18 mm.
–  In addition, mark the tool designation with the character “A”-1-.
Removing
–  Remove engine cover → Chapter.
  N28-10068
–  Position extractor -T10094 A- onto the ignition coil with power output stage -arrow-.
–  Slightly pull out the ignition coil with power output stage.
–  Position the assembly device -T10118- as shown.
–  Carefully unlock the plug lock and disconnect the plug.
Install
  Note
t  When installing new spark plugs, the ignition coils must be regreased with lubricating paste -G 052 141 A2-. In doing so, the sealing hose of the ignition coil does not “stick” to the spark plug. The lubricating paste must spread over the spark plug when fitting on the ignition coil.
t  The new ignition coils with power output stages are supplied greased.
  N28-10066
–  Apply a thin bead of lubricating paste -G 052 141 A2- all around the sealing hose of the ignition coil -arrow-.
l  The bead must be 1...2 mm thick.
–  Insert all ignition coils loosely into the relevant spark plug shaft.
–  Align the ignition coils to the plug connections.
–  Push the plugs onto the ignition coils with power output stage until they audibly click into place.
–  Position extractor -T10094 A- onto the ignition coil with power output stage.
  N28-10079
–  Press the ignition coil with power output stage into the cylinder head -arrow-.
