Worm Shaft

OIL LEVEL CHECK
Oil surface should be up to level as shown in Fig. 1. If not, add suitable lubricant as necessary.

ADJUSTMENT OF WORM SHAFT
The steering gear box is provided with a adjusting bolt (1), Fig. 2, which provides preload to selector shaft. If necessary, adjust as follows:

Check worm shaft to ensure that it is free from thrust play.

Position pitman arm so it is parallel with worm shaft as shown in Fig. 3. With pitman arm in this position, front wheels should be in a straight
forward position
