Fluid - A/T: Service and Repair
Fluid Level Check
A43D, A44D, A45DF, A45DL, A46DE & A46DF
1.
Operate vehicle, allow transmission fluid to reach normal operating temperature, 158-176°F.
2.
Position vehicle on level surface, then apply parking brake.
3.
With engine idling, depress brake pedal, then move shift lever through all positions from P to L, then return to P position.
4.
Remove transmission dipstick and clean, then return dipstick, remove and check fluid level in HOT range.
5.
On A43D, A44D, A45DF and A45DL models, total capacity is 6.9 quarts.
6.
On A46DE and A46DF models, total capacity is 6.0 quarts.
A340E, A340F & A340H
1.
Operate vehicle, allow transaxle fluid temperature to reach 158-176 °F.
2.
Position vehicle on level surface, apply parking brake.
3.
Allow engine to idle, depress brake pedal, then move shift lever through all positions.
4.
Remove transaxle dipstick, wipe clean, then replace.
5.
Remove again, then check fluid level in HOT range.
6.
On A340E units, dry capacity is 7.6 US quarts.
7.
On A340F units, dry capacity is 8.0 US quarts.
8.
On A340H units, dry capacity for transaxle and transfer is 10.9 US quarts.
