Fluid - A/T: Service and Repair
Fluid Drain & Refill

A43D, A44D, A45DF, A45DL, A46DE & A46DF

1.

Drain transmission fluid, then reinstall drain plug.

2.

With ignition switch in Off position, add ATF DEXRON II transmission fluid through filler tube.

3.

Drain and refill capacity is 2.5 quarts. Do not overfill.

4.

Start engine, then move shift lever through all positions.

5.

With engine idling, check fluid level, add fluid to COOL level.

6.

Operate vehicle, allow transmission fluid to reach normal operating temperature, 158-176°F, then recheck.

A340E, A340F & A340H

1.

Drain transaxle fluid, then reinstall drain plugs.

2.

With engine Off, add fluid through filler tube. Do not overfill.

3.

On A340E and A340F units, drain and refill capacity is 1.7 US quarts.

4.

On A340H units, transaxle drain and refill capacity is 4.0 US quarts.

5.

On all models, start engine, move shift lever through all positions, ensuring smooth operation.

6.

Allow engine to idle, then check fluid level, add up to COOL level.

7.

Once fluid temperature reaches 158-176°F, recheck fluid level.
