Power Steering Pump: Service and Repair
Inspection and Replacement
NOTE: When using a vise, do not overtighten it.
1. Measure oil clearance between vane pump shaft and bushing.
Using a micrometer and a caliper gauge, measure the oil clearance. The standard clearance is 0.01 - 0.03 mm (0.0004 - 0.0012 inch) and the
maximum clearance is 0.07 mm (0.0028 inch). If it is more than maximum, replace the front housing and vane pump shaft.
2. Inspect the vane pump rotor and vane plates by doing the following.
a. Using a micrometer, measure the height, thickness and length of the 10 plates. The minimum height is 8.1 mm (0.319 inch), the minimum
thickness is 1.797 mm (0.0707 inch) and the minimum length is 14.988 mm (0.5901 inch).
b. Using a feeler gauge, measure the clearance between the rotor groove and plate. The maximum clearance allowed is 0.03 mm (0.0012 inch). If
it is more than maximum, replace the plate and/or rotor with one having the same mark stamped on the cam ring.
c. The inscribed marks are 1, 2, 3, 4 or None
NOTE: There are five vane plate lengths, with the following rotor and cam ring marks.

Vane Plate Part Number: 44345 - 12010
Vane Plate Length: 14.996 - 14.998 mm (0.59039 -0.59047 inch)
(2.) Rotor And Cam Mark: 1
Vane Plate Part Number: 44345 - 12020
