3. Disconnect tie rod end from steering knuckle, then lower ball joint from lower control arm.
4. Remove brake disc if necessary, then using suitable puller, remove driveshaft outer joint from axle hub.
5. To remove driveshafts from transaxle, gently tap with hammer and brass drift to release shaft, or use a suitable pry bar to lever shaft from

transaxle, then remove snap ring from transaxle end of shaft.

6. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:

a. Always use new snap ring on splined end of shaft inserted into transaxle.
b. Ensure positive engagement of snap ring into transaxle.
c. Tighten fasteners to specifications. See TSB DL001-98, 3-6-98.

d. Fill transaxle to correct level using a suitable fluid.

Removal

1.

Raise and support vehicle.

2.

Remove engine undercovers.
