(d) Ensure the clamp in the closed position is the same as that in the image.

(e) Ensure the inboard boot(small side) is on the shaft groove.
(f) Using a boot clamp tool, tighten the clamp.
(g) Ensure the outboard boot (large and small side) is on the shaft groove.
(h) Using a boot clamp tool, tighten the clamp.

(i) Ensure the boot is not stretched or contracted when the drive shaft is at standard length.

Drive shaft standard length:

LH 540.2 mm (21.268 in.)
RH 857.4 mm (33.756 in.)

Front Axle Hub

1.

Raise and support vehicle.

2.

Remove ABS speed sensor, if equipped.

3.

While depressing brakes, remove drive shaft lock nut.

4.

Remove brake cylinder and disc rotor.

5.

Loosen nuts on lower side of shock absorber. Do not remove bolts.

6.

Disconnect tie rod end from steering knuckle.

7.

Disconnect lower ball joint from lower arm.

8.

Remove bolts on lower side of shock absorber and remove steering knuckle with axle hub.

9.

Reverse procedure to install. See TSB DL001-98, 3-6-98.
