Brake shoes of rear wheel brake, remove and install > < Drum brake, adjust

 

Parking Brake, Adjust  

For vehicles with rear wheel disc brakes:  

Object Number: 616198  Size: DEFAULT  Adjust   

Engage parking braking lever in 2nd notch position. Remove rear wheels. Loosen self-locking nut (1) on brake cable compensating yoke (remove heat shield from cars with catalytic converter).  

Object Number: 2383107  Size: DEFAULT

Turn the adjustment nut on the setting unit of the parking brake shoe, until the brake disc is blocked. Turn back the adjustment nut until the disc brake runs completely free. Fit the rear wheel - tightening torque 110 Nm.  

Tighten self-locking nut on brake cable compensating yoke until the braking effect just sets in. Similar braking effect on both wheels. Release parking brake lever and apply again. The brake must be firm on the 7th notch. Attach heat shield on cars with catalytic converter.  

Make short running-in journey of approx. 300 m/328 yards at low speed with parking brake slightly applied.

For vehicles with drum brakes:

An adjustment of the drum brake is only necessary through the automatic setting following a dismantling of the brake, a replacement of the brake drum or brake shoe - see operation "Drum brake adjustement".

Tighten self-locking nut on brake cable compensating yoke until the braking effect just sets in and loosen again until rear wheels are just free. The cam must lift up max. 4 mm/0.16 in. Parking brake effect must just engage in 2nd notch position of the parking brake lever. Check brake cable for free movement.  

Make short running-in journey of approx. 300 m/328 yards at low speed with parking brake slightly applied.
