Brakes

General Information

When removing the wheels of the vehicle, mark position to wheel stroke. This marking is to be observed when installing. Installation is always carried out with the prescribed torque.

Remove the underride protector if required for operations which have to be performed from below the vehicle. When installing, ensure the tightening torque of 20 Nm/ 15 lbf. ft. is correct.

Always disconnect the battery ground cable prior to operations.

On bolts inserted with locking compound, the thread must be cleaned with the relevant tap. Insert the new bolts with locking compound. On micro-encapsulated but re-usable bolts, likewise clean threads and insert with locking compound.

Ensure when installing that there is no dirt between the brake disc and the wheel bearing unit. Furthermore, the contact surfaces must be smooth and free of burrs. When replacing brake discs, new brake linings are to be installed in any case. Use genuine Opel brake linings only. Always replace all brake linings or shoes on one axle. When brake linings are replaced, the owner of the vehicle is to be informed that drastic braking must be avoided for the next 200 km/125 miles.

When disposing of brake fluid, observe the relevant environmental safety regulations.
