Valve Stem Seals, Replace (Cylinder Head Installed)  

  Remove, Disconnect   

Remove sheathed glow plugs - see operation "Sheathed Glow Plugs, Remove and Install".  

Remove camshaft - see operation "Camshaft, Remove and Install".  

Cover cylinder head oil drain bores. Remove shims together with cup tappets using KM-845 and place in assembly position (valve allocation).

  Remove, Disconnect   

Install compressed air connection into sheathed glow plug bore and apply compressed air. Fasten joint to lever arm and install in cylinder head with supports and assembly shaft. Fasten remover head to lever arm - ensure that when pressed down, the remover head sits vertically on the valve spring cap. Compress valve spring and remove valve keepers with pliers. Remove valve spring cap and valve spring.

Remove valve stem seal from valve guide with KM-840 (1).

  Install, Connect   

Clean the valve shaft with motoroil. Place a new valve shaft seal (1) with KM-352 on the valve guide and drive in carefully with light taps up to the stop. Insert the valve spring and upper valve spring disc.   Fit pressure piece (3) in the head assembly (4). Insert the valve key (2) with the wide side downwards in the head assembly (4) and clamp by pushing forwatd the plastic rings (5). Fix the assembly head (4) to the lever arm - taking care, that with low pressure the head assembly (4) lies vertically on the upper valve disc. The valve key is engaged by back and forth movements - observe the correct seating of the valve key.   Remove valve depressor from cylinder head.   Insert shims together with cup tappets using KM-845 according to installation position (valve allocation). Install camshaft - see operation "Camshaft, Remove and Install". Install sheathed glow plugs - see operation "Sheathed Glow Plugs, Remove and Install".
