X 16 XEL: remove upper part of intake manifold - see operation "Upper Part of Intake Manifold, Remove and Install (X 16 XEL)". Remove spark plug connectors from spark plugs with KM-836 and unclip ignition cables from brackets. Detach engine vent hoses from cylinder head cover and cylinder head cover from cylinder head. Clean sealing surfaces and remove sealant remnants.
 Install, Connect Use new seal rings (1) and new seals (2) in the cylinder head covers. Apply adhesive sealant (black) to the sealing surfaces (arrow). Attach cylinder head cover to cylinder head - tighten fastening bolts spirally outwards - tightening torque 8 Nm. Attach engine vent hoses to cylinder head cover. Connect spark plug connectors to spark plugs and clip ignition cables into brackets - note cable routing.
