DOHC Petrol Engine X 16 XEL
Summary
As of Model Year 1995, the two-valve C 16 SE engine is replaced by the new four-valve X 16 XEL engine. The X 16 XEL engine is based on the tried and tested C 16 XE engine from the Corsa-B production. The X 16 XEL belongs to the ECOTEC generation of engines and conforms to the exhaust limit levels planned for 1996.
Modifications relative to the C 16 XE engine:
- Electronically controlled exhaust gas recirculation (EGR)
- Secondary air injection
- Modified Multec-S carburetion system
- Newly developed intake manifold
- Modified air intake pipe and air cleaner housing
