DOHC Petrol Engine C 18 XEL
Summary
In Model Year 1995, the new C 18 XEL DOHC petrol engine replaces the tried and tested C 20 NE OHC petrol engine. The fuel consumption of the C 18 XEL engine is approx. 0.6 ltr./100 km lower than that of the C 20 NE engine. The construction of the C 18 XEL corresponds to that of the C 18 XE from previous Astra-F production. It is a throttled version of the C 18 XE, due to its modified camshafts, and is therefore eligible for lower insurance classification in some countries (e.g. Germany and Austria).
