Replace Steering Coupling  

Turn the steering wheel into the straight on position, take out the ignition key and allow the steering lock to engage.  

  Remove, Disconnect   

Unscrew the clamping screws (1) and (2) for the steering spindle and unscrew the steering pinion from the steering coupling.   Unbolt the steering gear with holding unit from the bulkhead (arrows) and pull back.   Push the steering coupling off the steering spindle. Take away the steering coupling.     Install, Connect    Fit new steering coupling and push on steering spindle.   Cut back the threads in the bulkhead (if possible with a self cutting machine bolt). Fit the steering gear with holding unit to the bulkhead. Use new nuts. Screw fixing bolts (arrow) to the bulkhead using locking material -tightening torque 22 Nm.

  Install, Connect   

Turn wheels to straight ahead position.  

Tighten steering pinion/steering shaft clamp bolts, on steering coupling - tightening torque 22 Nm/16 lbf. ft. Pull steering shaft up to unit on steering shaft-ball bearing.  

  Inspect   

Check the straight ahead position of the steering - see operation "Straight Ahead Position, Check/Adjust".
