Car pass
Each vehicle has a car pass which is issued to the customer on delivery of the vehicle along with the other vehicle papers. For this, a card is used, similar to the conventional radio passes.
Note:
This car pass is an important document and must be treated with the same care as the vehicle papers. It must not be kept in the vehicle. The customer must present the car pass for operations involving the immobiliser or the engine control unit.
Illustration F 0449 show the front and rear sides of the two different car pass versions.
Front side
Top left: Car pass with the inscription OPEL for all vehicles except Vauxhall. Top right: Car pass with the inscription VAUXHALL for all Vauxhall vehicles.
Rear side
Bottom right: Blank car pass, for Service applications. Bottom left: Car pass filled out on delivery of vehicle.
Note:
The terms used on the car pass are displayed in TECH 1 in the relevant language. They mean:
1 VIN Vehicle Identification Number. 2 Security Code Security code for diagnosis and programming with TECH 1. 3 Engine Type / No. Engine type/engine no. 4 Key No. Mechanical key number. 5 Radio Code Security code for radio. 6 CD-Changer Code Security code for CD changer.
Note:
The vehicle identification number (VIN), the security code and the engine type are always printed. The information for the key number, radio code and CD changer code are not always printed during the introductory phase.
This information should be completed by hand by the dealer during the vehicle's predelivery inspection. During the introductory phase, a separate radio pass will be issued as before. Once the car pass is fully established, the radio pass will be discontinued.
Loss of car pass
If the car pass is lost, the data entered on the pass can be requested from Adam Opel AG/Vauxhall Motors Ltd. The procedure and the forms required for this will be published separately at a later date.
