Mechanical Key Number, Vehicle Identification Number

 

The mechanical key number (lock cylinder) and the vehicle identification number are entered during the initial programming of the immobiliser control unit (see F7:PROGRAMMING).

 

If vehicle keys are lost, the mechanical key number must be specified when new keys are ordered.

 

Using this test, TECH 1 can display the programmed mechanical key codes and the last 10 digits of the programmed vehicle identification number (chassis number/VIN).

 

·   Connect TECH 1

·   Call up test of immobiliser control unit (see section 4.2.2)

·   In system main menu, call up F6:MISC. TESTS with F6

·   Using arrow keys, select MECH. KEY-NO. test or VEH.IDENT.NO. test and confirm with YES

 

 

If MECHANICAL KEY NUMBER NOT PROGRAMMED! appears, confirm with YES key and carry out programming (see section 4.7.5).

 

If LAST 10 DIGIT OF VEH. IDENT. NO. NOT PROGRAMMED! appears, confirm with YES key and carry out programming (see section 4.7.6).
