Abbreviations, Definitions > < Checking with TECH 1

TECH 1, Connect to Vehicle

 

Before connecting the unit, observe the information in the TECH 1 Operating Instructions.

 

·   Ignition OFF

·   Connect TECH 1 to the diagnostic plug in the passenger compartment (fuse box)

 

 

The following is displayed in the relevant language:

 

·   Query:

·   DISPLAY CAPTURED

     DATA FROM LAST

     SNAPSHOT?                    Answer with "NO".

 

 

·   Type in Model Year ("2" for MY 1992)

 

·   Select vehicle type "ASTRA - F" with "YES" or "NO" key

 

·   STOP ENGINE

     TURN ON

     IGNITION                         Answer with "YES".

 

·   AUTOMATIC

     SYSTEM 

     IDENTIFICATION?          Answer with "NO".

 

·   SELECT

     ELECTRONIC

     ENGINE SYSTEM?          Answer with "NO".

 

·   SELECT

     ELECTRONIC

     DRIVE TRAIN

     SYSTEM?                          Answer with "NO".

 

·   SELECT

ELECTRONIC

CHASSIS SYSTEM?        Answer with "NO".

 

·   SELECT

     ELECTRONIC

     BODY SYSTEM?              Answer with "YES".

 

 

·   Using arrow keys, select MULTI INFO DISP. and confirm with "YES".

 

·   The Multi-Info-Display is now sending data to TECH 1.

 

·   Compare PART NUMBER with the Checking Procedures (Table 3), confirm with "YES" key.

 

·   Compare COUNTRY CODE with the Checking Procedures (Table 3), confirm with "YES" key.

 

·   If one or more faults are stored in the Multi-Info-Display, they will be displayed by TECH 1.

 

·   Note trouble codes.

 

·   Compare all data shown in display from test step nos. 01 to 42 with the following nominal values from section 4.5, F0:DATA LIST.

 

·   Actuate "EXIT" key and if necessary, select mode "F5" section 4.6.4 or "F7" section 4.6.5.1.

 

·   If there are deviations from the nominal values in the F0:DATA LIST, start trouble-shooting.

 

 

IMPORTANT:   The following TECH 1 displays always show the switch condition of the relevant contact.

 

 

e.g.

                   WASHER LEVEL SW.                                       CLOSED         means:

                   Contact closed = 0 volts,                                   washer fluid level above min.

or

                   WASHER LEVEL  SW.                                      OPEN             means:

                   Contact offen = 12 volts,                                   washer fluid level below min.
