The Checking System

A technical checking concept which has pointed the way for the checking of electronic systems in vehicles, the "TECHLINE SYSTEM", has been developed by OPEL/VAUXHALL.

At the heart of this system are TECH 1 and TECH 15. Together with universal checking adapters, the relevant checking cables and Electronic-Kit I, all OPEL/VAUXHALL vehicles, even those of the new generation, can be checked using the most modern electronic methods.

With TECH 1, it is possible to read out streams of

data from electronic control units. A precondition

for this is the use of electronic systems with

·   Microprocessor techniques

·   Self-diagnosis

·   Serial data line

Before the start of diagnosis, the program module corresponding to the vehicle Model Year is inserted and TECH 1 is then connected to the vehicle diagnostic plug. The streams of data captured by TECH 1 are presented in a 4 line/16 character display.

The current actual values displayed are compared with the nominal values from the data list. Where there are deviations from the relevant nominal values, a trouble-shooting program is available, so that the user can make a clear diagnosis. The TECH 1 checking concept means fast and accurate trouble-shooting.

Using a special mode, the "snapshot mode", interruptions to the Multi-Info-Display caused by loose contacts can be localized - see also the TECH 1 Operating Instructions.
