Contact Part for Steering and Ignition Lock, Replace - as of MY '95  

Vehicles with Airbag  

  Remove, Disconnect   

Disconnect battery.   Remove steering column cover.   Turn ignition key to position "I".   Release lock cylinder with split pin remover Ø 3 mm/0.12 in. and remove (I, arrow).   To release the wiring harness plug, guide split pin remover into release opening (II, 1) and press in lug in contact part wiring harness plug (III, 4), carefully levering off wiring harness plug with second screwdriver (II, 2) and remove.     Important!    The wiring harness plug can only be released when the lock cylinder is turned with the key to the "I" position.

  Remove, Disconnect   

Unscrew setscrew (III, 3) from contact part.   Pull contact part towards steering wheel (IV, arrow) and remove from steering and ignition lock.

All Vehicles with and without Airbag  

  Install, Connect   

Turn lock cylinder with key to position "I".   Turn ignition switch (contact part) to position "I" (recess (1) in shift axle must be opposite the lug (2)).   Attach wiring harness plug to contact part.   Insert contact part in steering and ignition lock and fasten with setscrew.

Insert lock cylinder - if steering lock pin is engaged, press lock stone (1) downwards with screwdriver until retaining pin (2) engages.   Install the steering column cover.   Connect battery.   Following the connection of the battery the volatile memories are to be re-programmed. For radio coding and the transmitter memory the customer is to inform on the decoding and the erased transmitter memory.
