Brake Drum, Precision Turn
Note: Only workshops
which have facilities for grinding over-dimensioned brake linings
to fit the machined brake drum using a brake lining grinding
machine are authorised to perform this operation.
 Remove
Detach rear wheels. Remove brake drums – see operation
"Brake Drum, Remove and Install".
Machine
Precision turn brake drums.
Caution
Always precision turn both brake drums. Use only approved
machines. Note manufacturer's instructions!
Nominal values for maximum turn out – see "Technical Data
– Rear Wheel Brake – Drum Brake".
After turning brake drums, over-dimensioned brake linings with
lining thickness of 5.6 mm must be installed – see operation
"Brake Linings – Rear Wheel Brakes, Remove and Install" or
"Brake Linings, Rivet and Unrivet" (X 12 XE).
Install
Install brake drums – see operation "Brake Drum, Remove
and Install".
 Adjust
Adjust drum brake and parking brake – see operation "Drum
Brake, Adjust" and "Parking Brake, Adjust".
Mount rear wheels – tightening torque 110 Nm / 81 lbf.
