Subject: Clutch - Play to wide or spongy
Models: Engines: Option:
Corsa-C 2001...,Astra-G 1998...,Zafira 1999...,Vectra-C 2002... All,All,All,All
Complaint: Clutchplay to wide or spongy, sometimes clutch pedal without drag or sticks after bleeding the clutch system.
Cause: Air in the clutch operator and pipes.
Production:

Remedy:

Revised clutch bleeding procedure.
The existing bleeding procedure on TIS 2000 is still valid, but extended
as described below. The correction of the checking procedure and the
labour times is in process.

Installation, Remove:

Hint: 
There are additional steps to do to fill pressure line from transmission
to clutch operator.

Important:
The brake fluid reservoir has to be filled up during the bleeding
procedure.

1. Bleed pressure line from transmission to clutch operator
    - Install KM-6174-2 on KM-6174-1 at ventilation valve, put open side
      into an suitable Canister
    - Apply the clutch pedal and hold
    - Open ventilation valve until air/brake fluid comes out
    - Close ventilation valve by hand
    - Pull clutch pedal back till stop with normal speed 
      (Note: Do not pull rapidly)
    - Wait for approx. 5 seconds
    - Repeat this procedure 4 times
    - Tighten ventilation valve with 5 Nm
    - Remove KM-6174-2 on KM-6174-1, for protection purposes apply cap
      on ventilation valve 

Inspection/Visual check
2. Fill up brake fluid reservoir 
    - Fill up brake fluid reservoir till ”MAX” marking
    - Close brake fluid reservoir

3. Check clutch pedal force

4. Check transmission shifting behaviour
    - Check transmission shifting behaviour
    - Shift all gears when engine is running and clutch disengaged

Note:
A test drive has to be carried out to ensure a flawless function of brake
and clutch system.
