C-016 - Air Recirculation Flap Motor Circuit

Test

Work Order Description

Nominal Value

T001

Check: Short to Voltage of Voltage Supply Circuit

  • Ignition OFF
  • Disconnect wiring harness connector from:
    A1_A14 Control Unit - Climate Control
    (Wiring Harness Connector XC43 )
  • Ignition ON
  • Measure voltage between the following terminals:
    A1_A14 Control Unit - Climate Control
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 17 (XC43)
    &
    Ground

less than 0.3 V

Voltage Measurement Current Value: V
Yes: No:
T002

Check: Short to Ground/Interruption of Voltage Supply Circuit

  • Ignition OFF
  • Connect unfused jumper wire to:
    A1_A14 Control Unit - Climate Control
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 17 (XC43)
    &
    Ground
  • Connect fused jumper wire for a maximum of 10 s to:
    A1_A14 Control Unit - Climate Control
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 1 (XC43)
    &
    Battery voltage

Can the following component be activated?

M3_A14 Control Motor - Recirculation Flap

Yes: No:
T003

Check: Short to Ground/Interruption of Voltage Supply Circuit

  • Remove fused jumper wire
  • Remove unfused jumper wire
  • Connect unfused jumper wire to:
    A1_A14 Control Unit - Climate Control
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 1 (XC43)
    &
    Ground
  • Connect fused jumper wire for a maximum of 10 s to:
    A1_A14 Control Unit - Climate Control
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 17 (XC43)
    &
    Battery voltage

Can the following component be activated?

M3_A14 Control Motor - Recirculation Flap

Yes: No:
T004

Check: Short to Ground of Voltage Supply Circuit

  • Check the following component for proper operation:
    Fuse of the fused jumper wire

Test okay?

Yes: No:
T005

Check: Interruption in Wiring Harness

  • Remove fused jumper wire
  • Disconnect wiring harness connector from:
    M3_A14 Control Motor - Recirculation Flap
  • Measure resistance between the following terminals:
    A1_A14 Control Unit - Climate Control
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 17 (XC43)
    &
    M3_A14 Control Motor - Recirculation Flap
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal B

less than 5 Ohm

Resistance Measurement Current Value: Ohm
Yes: No:
T006

Check: Short to Ground of Voltage Supply Circuit

  • Check the following component for proper operation:
    Fuse of the fused jumper wire

Test okay?

Yes: No:
T007

Check: Short to Voltage of Voltage Supply Circuit

  • Ignition OFF
  • Disconnect wiring harness connector from:
    M3_A14 Control Motor - Recirculation Flap
  • Ignition ON
  • Measure voltage between the following terminals:
    A1_A14 Control Unit - Climate Control
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 17 (XC43)
    &
    Ground

less than 0.3 V

Cause Of Fault

E001 Result: Defective Component
  • Defective component:
    A1_A14 Control Unit - Climate Control

Important:

Reset the concerned control unit with the diagnostic tester before replacing it. In order to do that, call up the "RESET" function from the PROGRAMMING menu of the current system on the diagnostic tester.

E002 Result: Interruption
  • Circuit interruption between:
    A1_A14 Control Unit - Climate Control
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 1 (XC43)
    &
    M3_A14 Control Motor - Recirculation Flap
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal A

or

  • Defective component:
    M3_A14 Control Motor - Recirculation Flap
E003 Result: Interruption
  • Circuit interruption between:
    A1_A14 Control Unit - Climate Control
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 17 (XC43)
    &
    M3_A14 Control Motor - Recirculation Flap
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal B
E004 Result: Short to Ground
  • Short circuit to ground between:
    A1_A14 Control Unit - Climate Control
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 17 (XC43)
