Work Order Description

Nominal Value

Check: Short to Ground of Voltage Supply Circuit

• Ignition OFF
• Reconnect all disconnected components
• All consumers turned off
• Ignition ON
• Switch low beam on
• Insert new fuse FE23 and then check the fuse for proper operation.

Test okay?

Check: Short to Ground of Voltage Supply Circuit

• Ignition OFF
• Remove electrical component from socket:
• X125 Underhood Electronic Module
• Connect fused jumper wire to:
  X125 Underhood Electronic Module
  Socket Terminal 41 (XE1)
  &
  Battery voltage
• Insert new fuse into the socket of the fused jumper wire and then check this fuse for proper operation.

Test okay?

Check: Vehicle Configuration

Is the following information correct for the actual vehicle?

Check: Short to Ground of Voltage Supply Circuit

• Remove fused jumper wire
• Connect fused jumper wire to:
  X125 Underhood Electronic Module
  Socket Terminal 40 (XE1)
  &
  Battery voltage
• Check the following component for proper operation:
  Fuse of the fused jumper wire

Test okay?

Result

Cause Of Fault

• A temporary current overload in the system behind fuse FE23 has occurred

• Defective component:
  X125 Underhood Electronic Module

Important:

Reset the concerned control unit with the diagnostic tester before replacing it. In order to do that, call up the "RESET" function from the PROGRAMMING menu of the current system on the diagnostic tester.

• Short circuit to ground between:
  X125 Underhood Electronic Module
  Socket Terminal 40 (XE1)
  &
  E119L Headlamp - Left
  Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 6

or

• Defective component:
  E119L Headlamp - Left

• Short circuit to ground between:
  X125 Underhood Electronic Module
  Socket Terminal 41 (XE1)
  &
  E119R Headlamp - Right
  Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 6

or

• Defective component:
  E119R Headlamp - Right
