Result

Cause Of Fault

E001 Result: System Overload
  • A temporary current overload in the system behind fuse FR18 has occurred

Note:

In case of a temporary current overload, the cause for the blow of the fuse may be located in a circuit behind the control unit/component.

These circuits should be checked additionally for short to ground.

E002 Result: Defective Component
  • Defective component:
    S41 Switch - Clutch
E003 Result: Defective Component
  • If the nominal value is reached during one of the measurements, the component/control unit that has been disconnected immediately before that measurement is defective.

Note:

If the defective component is a switching device (e.g. switch or relay) or a fuse, the cause for the fault may be located in the circuit behind that component.
In case of a switching device, the corresponding part of the circuit should be checked for short to ground/voltage before replacing the component.

E004 Result: Defective Component
  • Defective component:
    A165 Control Unit - Open & Start

Important:

Reset the concerned control unit with the diagnostic tester before replacing it. In order to do that, call up the "RESET" function from the PROGRAMMING menu of the current system on the diagnostic tester.

E005 Result: Short to Ground
  • Short circuit to ground between:
    X125 Underhood Electronic Module
    Socket Terminal 27 (XE3)
    &
    A84 Control Unit - Engine
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal (Z 14 XEP) (Z 14 XEL) (Z 12 XEP) 8 (XC2) (Z 16 XEP) (Z 16 XE1) 61 (XC10) (Z 18 XE) 10 (XC4) (Z 20 LEL) (Z 20 LER) (Z 20 LEH) 8 (XC8) (Z 17 DTH) 79 (XC12) (Z 17 DTL) 79 (XC12) (Z 19 DTH) (Z 19 DT) (Z 19 DTL) 79 (XC53) (Z 13 DTH) 22 (XC20) (Z 18 XER) 16 (XC4) (Z 16 XER) 16 (XC100) (Z 16 LET) (A 16 LET) 8 (XC98) (Z 17 DTJ) (Z 17 DTR) (A 17 DTJ) (A 17 DTR) 23 (XC96) (Z 22 YH) 56 (XC55)

or

  • Defective component:
    X125 Underhood Electronic Module

Important:

Reset the concerned control unit with the diagnostic tester before replacing it. In order to do that, call up the "RESET" function from the PROGRAMMING menu of the current system on the diagnostic tester.

Note:

If the defective component is a control unit, the cause for the fault may be located in a circuit behind that component.

E006 Result: Short to Ground
Short circuit to ground between:
S41 Switch - Clutch
Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 4
&
X125 Underhood Electronic Module
Socket Terminal 15 (XE2)
E007 Invalid / not supported vehicle configuration
  • The selected Checking Procedure for this vehicle configuration is not available.
E008 Result: Short to Ground
  • Short circuit to ground between:
    X131 Rear Electronic Module
    Socket Terminal 8 (XR4)
    &
Wiring harness connector terminals of all components (wiring harness side), which were disconnected from the wiring harness during this troubleshooting session

or

  • Defective component:
    X131 Rear Electronic Module

Important:

Reset the concerned control unit with the diagnostic tester before replacing it. In order to do that, call up the "RESET" function from the PROGRAMMING menu of the current system on the diagnostic tester.
