Complaint: Customer complain about low torque between 2000 RPM and 4000 RPM. Test bench reveals 5-15 Nm less torque than speficied. High fuel consumption might also be complaint because of this problem.
Cause: Membrane of switch-over actuator from intake manifold damaged.
Production:

Remedy:

In case of customer complaint check the function of the switch-over
actuator from intake manifold.

As a first diagnosis hint the switch-over actuator from intake
manifold can be checked with a short test.

One mechanic should observe the function of the switch-over actuator
intake manifold;

a second person must push the accelerator pedal very quickly.
During acceleration of the engine to 5000 RPM the switch-over function
should be activated.

Note: If the engine speed increases not very fast
(means the accelerator pedal gets pushed down slowly)
the intake manifold switch-over function will not be activated.

A18XER/ Z18XER:

If the switch-over activator does not react, the intake manifold
has to be replaced.

A16XER/ Z16XER:
On this engine variants it is sufficient only to replace the vacuum
actuator.

Part-/Catalogue-Number: 55 568 437 / 8 50 266

Prior replacement of the intake manifold perform an actuator test with
TECH2 or MDI in case of doubts about the diagnosis result.
