Safety guidelines, Easytronic (M20 MTA)
Important: In
addition to the general driving instructions and safety
regulations, the following safety guidelines must be strictly
followed for the Easytronic M20 MTA.
- The lines of the high-pressure system are under extremely high
pressure (up to 75 bar). Before opening or performing any operation
on the high-pressure system, it is imperative that the
high-pressure lines of the MTA system be fully depressurised.
- The high-pressure system can be depressurised using Tech 2.
Follow the instructions in the diagnostic tester. In certain
circumstances, failure to follow the exact sequence of individual
steps in Tech 2 could cause system pressure to build up again.
- If there are communication problems between the diagnostic
tester and the Easytronic control unit or if the MTA system
pressure sensor is defective, it is not possible to relieve the
pressure in the MTA system by means of Tech 2. In such cases, the
entire MTA system must be replaced (with transmission removed). It
is absolutely forbidden to open the pressure lines of the MTA
system and repair or replace individual components.
- Protective goggles must be worn when opening the high-pressure
lines.
- If the MTA system assembly is replaced, prior to removing and
installing the MTA system, the mounting bracket that comes with the
new part must be attached in order to prevent distortion or damage
of the hydraulic lines. Return the old component with the mounting
bracket attached.
- In order to prevent damage to the clutch hydraulic system, it
must not come into contact with the hydraulic fluid of the MTA
system.
- Before repairing an M20-6 MTA transmission, always conduct a
test using a diagnostic tester and follow the test instructions
designed for the transmission in question.
- Before attaching hydraulic system parts, thoroughly clean the
contact points and their surroundings. When high-pressure lines are
detached, they are to be securely sealed with the appropriate
special tool.
- A leakage check must be conducted after each operation in th
high-pressure system.
- If a repair operation is not performed or concluded
immediately, open components must be sealed or carefully
covered.
- During re-installation or new installation of high-pressure
system components, replace existing gaskets (e.g. gearshift
module).
- After maintenance work on the M20-6 MTA system, follow
"Start-up routines required for Easytronic (M20 MTA)".
- The lines must not be opened or detached while the engine is
running.
- When replacing the Easytronic control unit, special tools must
be used. See "Special Tools" catalogue.
- The return line from the gearshift module to the CS Speed
hydraulic oil reservoir must be replaced any time it is
disconnected.
- All pressure lines must be tightened to the specified
torque.
