Remove
3. |
Remove 2x axle shaft seal ring from bearing ring (3) and
transmission

Remove axle shaft seal ring with KM-454-2 (1) and KM-454-4
(2)

Remove tapered roller bearing outside ring from bearing
ring
Note: Only necessary
when replacing bearing in bearing ring

Place tapered roller bearing outside ring on KM-303 (6)
|
• |
Remove tapered roller bearing outside ring with KM-304 (4) and KM-451
(5)
|
|
5. |
Remove tapered roller bearing outside ring from
transmission
Note: Only necessary
when replacing bearing in transmission
• |
Remove tapered roller bearing outside ring with KM-305 and KM-451
Note: Use KM-304 and KM-451 with
removed transmission
|

|
|
6. |
Remove 2x tapered roller bearing inside ring (1) from
differential
Note: Only necessary
when replacing.
When reusing the tapered roller bearing, the outside and inside
rings must not be switched.
In overhaul work, the tachometer wheel (driving) (5) is to be
destroyed if still present. It is not reinstalled during
assembly.

Remove tapered roller bearing inside ring with KM-161-B (2), KM-161-3 (4)
and KM-161-4 (3)

7. |
Release crown wheel from differential housing
• |
Tighten differential housing in vice
Note: Use braces.
|
• |
Knock crown wheel off evenly with mallet.
|
|
|
|
|
8. |
Remove crown wheel (1) from differential housing
• |
Knock crown wheel off evenly with mallet.
Note: Note installation
position of the crown wheel. Pay attention to toothing on crown
wheel.
|
|
9. |
Dismantle differential housing
• |
Remove 2x lock ring (2) from cone axle
|
• |
Remove axle shafts and differential bevel gears with KM-458-A
|
• |
Remove plastic retainer
|
|
|
10. |
Clean all parts and transmission case
|
11. |
Check all parts for damage
Note: Replace damaged
parts.
|
Install
|
Important: Oil turning parts with
transmission oil on their bearing, running, seating or press
surfaces.
|
12. |
Install plastic retainer in differential
Note: Collar (1) of
plastic retainer must be able to be inserted in the guide of the
axle shaft bevel gears in the housing
|
13. |
Assemble differential housing
• |
Insert axle shaft and differential wheels in differential
housing
|
• |
Tighten differential housing with KM-458-A (3) in vice
Note: Use braces.
|
• |
Centre differential bevel gears with KM-456 (2)
|
• |
Install 2x new lock ring (4) and (5)
|
|
|
|
14. |
Install crown wheel (1)
Note: Replace drive
wheels in pairs (driving and driven) only. Ensure continuous groove
marking (arrows) on tooth head. Note installation position of
groove marking with respect to differential housing.
• |
Tighten 8x new screws in criss-cross fashion 40 Nm (+30 +15)°

15. |
Install 2x tapered roller bearing inside ring (2)
• |
Install tapered roller bearing inside ring with KM-453 (1) on differential housing (3)
|
|
|
|
16. |
Install 2x tapered roller bearing outside ring
• |
Install tapered roller bearing outside ring (2) with KM-304 (1) and KM-451
(3) in transmission and bearing ring
|
|
17. |
Install axle shaft seal ring
• |
Install axle shaft seal ring with KM-446 in bearing ring and transmission case
|
|
18. |
Install differential (4)
