Transmission Shift Linkage, Adjust (M20/M32)
 Remove

| 1. |
Detach cover of manual shift lever (1)
| • |
Unclip cover of manual shift lever at the front (arrows) from
central console
|
| • |
Prop up cover of manual shift lever with cover frame
|
|
|
|
Important: Only open the clamping
piece as far as the notch (arrow).
If opened further (over-stretched) the clamping piece can be
damaged!
|
| 2. |
Unlock 2x gearshift cable on the gearshift lever assembly
| • |
Unlock clamping piece (1) for selector link
Note: Open clamping
piece using a small screwdriver.

Unlock clamping piece (2) for manual gearshift link
Note: Open clamping
piece using a small screwdriver.
|
|
|
|
Important: Make sure that the two
catches on the locking block are not damaged (e.g. scratches,
ridges). If the catches are damage, the locking block could release
while driving, at which time only 3rd and 4th gear can be engaged.
If the catches are damaged, the manual shift lever must be replaced
.

Unlock locking block on manual gearshift lever
- Prop up cover of manual shift lever
- Engage the reverse gear pawl
- press the right catch
- press the left catch
- release the left catch by carefully turning the tool
- until the locking block springs down
|

| 4. |
Lock manual shift lever in adjustment position
| • |
Fix manual gearshift lever in neutral position 1st/2nd gear
level to bracket with locking block (1)
|
|
|
| 6. |
Place transmission in neutral
|
|
| 7. |
Lock shift actuation at the transmission
| • |
Pull shift actuation upwards (arrow)
|
| • |
Attach KM-527-A (1) to shift
actuation
|
|
|
Install
|
| 8. |
Lock 2x clamping piece (arrow)
Note: Do not change
position of manual gearshift lever.

Lock selector connection clamping piece (1) by compressing
|
| • |
Lock shift connection clamping piece (2) by compressing
|
|
|
|
| 9. |
Detach KM-527-A (1)
Note: Pull shift
actuation slightly upwards (arrow).
|
|
|
| 10. |
Lock locking block to manual gearshift lever
| • |
Pull locking block (2) out of bracket
|
| • |
Pull locking block upwards until it latches (1)
|
|
|
| 12. |
Check ease of gear shifting
|
|
| 13. |
Attach cover of manual shift lever (1)
| • |
Insert cover of manual gearshift lever at the rear in the
central console
|
| • |
Clip cover of manual gearshift lever into the central console
at the front (arrows)
|
|
|
| 14. |
Program volatile memories
