Exhaust Temperature Sensor Replacement - Position 1

Removal Procedure

1. Open the hood.
2. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .

Warning: In order to avoid being burned, do not service the exhaust system while it is still hot. Service the system when it is cool.


3. Disconnect the exhaust temperature sensor wiring harness plug.
4. Unclip the exhaust temperature sensor (2) from the exhaust temperature sensor connector bracket (3).
5. Remove the exhaust temperature sensor (2) from the catalytic converter (1).

Installation Procedure


Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution .

1. Install the exhaust temperature sensor (2) to the catalytic converter (1) and tighten to 45 N·m (33 lb ft) .
2. Clip in the exhaust temperature sensor (2) to the exhaust temperature sensor connector bracket (3).
3. Connect the exhaust temperature sensor wiring harness plug.
4. Connect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
5. After replacement of the exhaust temperature sensor, use a scan tool to perform the appropriate reset functions. Refer to Engine Control Module Programming and Setup .
6. Close the hood.
