Bonnet, Replace

Remove

Unscrew bonnet from 2 hinge bolts - assistance from a second mechanic.

Remove bonnet insulation, if present.

Remove bonnet attaching parts.

Bonnet Emblem, Replace

Note:

For all Models as of MY '89 or on emblems with position pins and bonnets without position holes.

Mark installation position of emblem (arrow = up) for identification.

Remove position pins completely.

Clean cementing surface with benzine.

Mark position of emblem on bonnet with adhesive tape for identification:

Dimension "X"

up to MY '89, x = 12 mm/0.47 in.

as of MY '89,  x = 20 mm/0.79 in.

on GSI,           x = 17 mm/0.67 in.

Remove protective foil and cement emblem on.

Install

Install in reverse order.

Install attaching parts.

A = Screw in rubber buffers.

B = Cement rubber damper in place with leatherette cement.
