Tail Gate, Installation Hole for Rear Screen Wiper (Estate)

Up to Model Year 1988:

Transfer 18 mm/0.71 in. hole in frame of gate onto outer panel, centrepunch and drill.

Separate bracket for rear screen wiper motor on frame at two points (body saw). Protect drill and separation points against corrosion.

As of Model Year 1988:

Transfer 18 mm/0.71 in. hole in frame of gate to outer panel and centre-punch.

Drill 34 mm/1.34 in. hole (passage for motor shaft and rubber grommet).

1   Frame hole

2   34 mm/1.34 in. hole drilled in outer panel

3   Rear screen wiper motor arrangement

Install lock parts.

C = Spiral spring

D = Bonnet catch

E = Fastening rivet

F = End of rivet spread with pliers

Screw in striker pin firmly and adjust.

Observe adjustment dimensions.

Distance X =   40 to 45 mm/1.57 to 1.77 in. - measured from bonnet panel to edge of upper washer

Tighten hex nut to bonnet panel (counter-lock striker pin).

Installation sequence:

G  = Washer

H  = Hex nut

J   = Edged washer

K  = Spiral spring

L  = Edged washer

M = Striker pin with groove
