Front Frame Side Member, Replace

(in Front of Control Arm)

Remove

Remove attaching parts.

Separate side member approx. 100 mm/4 in. in front of control arm support.

Separate wheel housing panel at original welded flange to wheel housing rear section.

1   =   Side member

2   =   Control arm support

3   =   Lock plate

4   =   Short front member

5   =   Front member

(wheel housing panels are not shown)

Install

Support vehicle.

Install Welding Gauge KM-570-10.

Position side member and wheel housing with welding gauge.

Butt weld side member to side lock plate.

Weld in attaching parts (front member, wheel housing).

Note:

For vehicles with 15 DTR and 17 DT turbo diesel engines.

Right side member has oval opening (engine compartment side).

For Welding Gauge KM-570-10 a special Adapter, KM-570-30, is provided for the right engine mounting.

Weld in attaching parts: wing, bonnet, wheel housing, air deflector panel are not shown.

Seal hollow area in front member and side member with wax.
