Bracket for Brake Servo, Replace

 

Corresponds to operation "Brake Servo, Remove and Install".

 

Brake Proportioning Valve, Replace

 

All Models except 35, 36, 38, 45, 46 and 48

 

Note: Since these valves are adjusted in pairs to the correct control range, they must be replaced in pairs.

 

Replace cover for brake fluid reservoir with blind screw cap. Unscrew brake line from each brake proportioning valve.

Unscrew and remove both brake proportioning valves from tandem master cylinder.

Before installing valves, ensure that both valves are stamped with identical gradient - first number - and switching pressure second, two-figure number - reference numbers.

 

Screw both brake proportioning valves onto brake lines.

 

A  =   GMF version

B  =   Ate version

Screw both brake proportioning valves into tandem master cylinder and tighten - observe prescribed torques: GMF version 40 Nm/ 29.50 lbf. ft., Ate version 12 Nm/8.85 lbf. ft.

Tighten both union nuts on brake lines at brake proportioning valves - observe prescribed torque of 11 Nm/8.11 lbf. ft.

Remove blind screw cap and bleed brake system.

Check brake system for leaks.

Install cover - on vehicles with brake fluid warning indicator, attach cable.

Models 35, 36, 45 and 46 with Tandem Load Dependent Brake Proportioning Valve

 

Unscrew cover of brake fluid reservoir and close reservoir with blind screw cap, commercially available.

On vehicles with brake fluid level warning indicator, detach cable from cover.

 

Raise vehicle.

Loosen bracket for return spring at rear axle and and push bracket towards rear of vehicle.

 

Detach spring for brake proportioning valve from valve.

 

Unscrew brake lines from brake proportioning valve.

 

Important: Note different union nuts.

Unbolt brake proportioning valve from vehicle underbody and remove.

 

Unbolt impact guard from brake proportioning valve.

Bolt impact guard to new brake proportioning valve.

Bolt brake proportioning valve to vehicle underbody and tighten - observe prescribed torque of 20 Nm/14.75 lbf. ft.

Screw brake lines to brake proportioning valve.

Note different union nuts.

Attach spring for brake proportioning valve to valve and to bracket on rear axle.

 

Adjust brake proportioning valve with vehicle unladen.

 

Push lever towards front of vehicle as far as stop.

 

Move bracket on rear axle until spring is free of tension and play and rests against bracket on rear axle and lever of brake proportioning valve.

Bolt bracket to axle and tighten - observe prescribed torque of 20 Nm/14.75 lbf. ft.

 

Lower vehicle.

Bleed brake system.

Check brake system for leaks.

Models 38 and 48 with Twin Load Dependent Brake Proportioning Valve

 

Unscrew cover of brake fluid reservoir and close reservoir with blind screw cap, commercially available.

On vehicles with brake fluid level warning indicator, detach cable from cover.

 

Raise vehicle.

Loosen bracket for return spring at rear axle and push bracket towards valve.

 

Detach spring for brake proportioning valve from valve.

 

Important: Note different union nuts.

Unscrew brake proportioning valve from bracket on vehicle underbody and remove.

 

Unscrew brake lines from brake proportioning valve.

Object Number: 2376010  Size: DEFAULT

 

 

Screw brake lines to brake proportioning valve.

Note different union nuts.

 

Bolt new brake proportioning valve to vehicle underbody and tighten - observe prescribed torque of 20 Nm/14.75 lbf. ft.

 

Attach spring for brake proportioning valve to valve and to bracket on rear axle.

 

Lower vehicle.

Bleed brake system.

Check brake system for leaks.

 

Adjust brake proportioning valve with vehicle unladen.

Attach spring for brake proportioning valve in regulator and bracket at rear axle and move bracket on rear axle until spring is free of tension and play and rests against bracket on rear axle and lever of brake proportioning valve.

Bolt bracket to axle and tighten - observe prescribed torque of 20 Nm/14.75 lbf. ft.
