Brake Linings/Pads, Check for Wear

Disc Brake Pads, Check

Raise Vehicle.

Remove front or rear wheels as appropriate.

Mark position relative to hub.

Check brake pads visually for wear and condition.

Measure brake pad thickness.

Check brake disc or disc hub visually for wear and condition.

Measure thickness of brake discs or disc hub.

See also "Technical Data".

Mount wheels.

Lower vehicle.

Parking Brake Linings, Check (Only for Rear Disc Brakes)

Note:

The brake linings for the parking brake can only be checked when the disc hub is removed.

Raise vehicle.

Remove rear wheels.

Mark position relative to hub.

Remove rear wheels.

See corresponding operation in group F.

Check parking brake linings for wear and condition.

Install disc hub.

See corresponding operation in group F.

Mount rear wheels.

Lower vehicle.

Linings of Drum Brake, Check

Raise vehicle.

Remove plug from brake lining inspection hole in brake anchor plate.

Visually check brake linings for wear through inspection hole and close hole with plug.

Lower vehicle.
