Brake Disc, Precision Turn

 

Note:

In order to guarantee uniform braking on both sides, both brake discs must have identical surface as regards smoothness and scoring depth. For this reason, always replace both brake discs on one axle.

 

Remove brake discs from corresponding axle.

See corresponding operation "Brake Disc, Remove and Install or Replace" in this group.

 

Precision turning of the brake discs should be carried out on a suitable brake disc finishing machine.

Turning both sides at the same time with a double tool holder is not permitted, as this causes chatter marks due to vibration.

 

Uniform concentric scoring in the brake discs up to a depth of 0.4 mm/0.016 in. is unobjectionable; new pads adjust themselves to the discs. Slight discolourations due to temperature effects are of no significance either, as they involve no structural change.

 

The thicknesses of the brake discs after precision turning must not be less than the following:

*Important

After these values have been reached, new brake pads may be installed only one more time.
