Brake Drum, Precision Turn

 

After removing brake drum, it can be finely ground if necessary.

Note that the processing equipment authorized by Customer Service is to be used for this work.

 

Grinding is done according to the instructions enclosed with the equipment.

 

Use brake linings 5.6 mm/0.22 in. thick if brake drum has been reground.

 

 

Before installing brake drum, ensure that adjustment pinion is turned back to stop.

The pinion must not lock firmly at end of adjustment unit.

 

Install brake drum.

Position brake drum on wheel hub so that hole for detent screw aligns with hole in wheel hub.

 

Mount rear wheel.

Before mounting rear wheel, thinly coat entire circumference of collar on wheel hub with antifriction bearing grease.

 

Lower vehicle.

Adjust rear wheel brake.

 

Operate service brake  - at least 15 times -  until jumping of adjustment lever (B) on adjustment pinion (A) can no longer be heard on either brake drum.

Raise vehicle and adjust parking brake.

 

Vehicles with Catalytic Converter:

 

Install heat shield.
