Parking Brake Adjustment:

With Rear Disc Brakes:

Readjustment must be carried out after parking brake repairs.

Set parking brake to second notch. Remove rear wheels and raise vehicle. loosen brake cable compensation yoke until adjustment nut is flush wit threaded rod. Adjust wheel with screwdriver. Tighten brake compensation yoke until braking action begins (equally on both wheels).

Mount rear wheels and lower vehicle.

Check lever travel. Parking brake must lock at 6th notch.

 

With Drum Brakes:

After repairing the brake, the readjustment must be carried out while applying the foot brake.

Then raise the vehicle. Turn adjusting nut on brake compensation yoke until the wheels can no longer be rotated.

Loosen adjusting nut until the wheels can just be rotated. After lowering the vehicle, braking must begin at the 2nd notch.

Vacuum Check of Vacuum Pump:

At 2750 rpm the vacuum pump must create a static vacuum of 75 kPa (0.75 bar)

 

The pressure drop with the vacuum pump stopped after 30 seconds may not be less than 73 kPA (0.73 bar)

0il Fill for Vacuum Pump:

Since this vacuum pump is directly connected with the engine oil circulation system, checking the oil level is not required.

Brake Fluid:

Quality:

 

Opel / Vauxhall heavy duty brake fluid.

This fluid conforms to US safety specification FMVSS § 16 DOT 3/DOT 4 and to SAE specification J 1703.

This fluid may be mixed with all fluids conforming to these specifications.

 

Fluid change:

 

Opel / Vauxhall heavy duty brake fluid is to be changed annually.

 

Filling quantity:

 

approx. 0.4 litres.
